How to play Kanto Tactics

A practical route from your first starter to a board that can carry an adventure.

1. Pick a starter and buy your first upgrades

Adventure begins with Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle. Read the shop from left to right and buy units that help your current team. Three matching copies merge into a stronger star level and, when that line has one, its next evolution.

The bench holds units waiting for an upgrade or a board slot. Buying everything slows your economy and fills the bench, so keep copies with a clear purpose.

2. Put a front line in front of your damage

Use the lower half of the hex board to plan your team. Tanks and durable fighters buy time in front. Ranged attackers and casters usually need room behind them. Move pieces before the fight, then watch which unit gets targeted first.

Assassins and area attacks can punish a tightly packed back line. If a strong carry dies before casting, change its protection and position before changing the entire team.

3. Manage gold, experience and interest

A shop refresh costs two gold. Buying four experience costs four gold; gaining a level raises your board capacity and changes the shop odds. Interest adds one gold per ten saved, capped at four in this build.

Spend to survive a dangerous fight or finish a valuable upgrade. When the board is already stable, holding gold can create more buying power later. The game’s gold tooltip shows the income expected for the next stage.

4. Connect types and equip the right unit

Type synergies count the species on the board. Use the in-game type panel to see the next threshold. A bench full of matching types does not activate a board bonus.

Physical and special damage scale differently. Read the move tooltip, then give damage items to the unit whose attacks or ability benefit from them. Durable holders can make better use of defensive items than an exposed low-health attacker.

5. Follow the Adventure route

The campaign has 38 stops and eight Gym badges, followed by the Elite Four, Champion and Mewtwo. Wild fights, trainers and events interrupt the route. Inspect the next opponent and use event rewards to strengthen an existing plan.

Your current run saves in this browser. Use an account for cloud synchronization, and let a save finish before changing devices.

Frequently asked questions

How do Pokémon evolve?

Collect three matching copies at the same star level. Check the evolution line in the in-game guide; not every Pokémon has three different forms.

Can I pause a fight?

Open the in-game menu to see the available controls for that mode. Online rounds use the server clock, so closing a menu does not stop other players.

How do I play with friends?

Open PvP, create a private room, and share its code. The host can choose bot filling before starting. Both players need to join this site’s room, rather than the original service.
