KANTO FIELD GUIDE · OCTOBER 20, 2026

Kanto Tactics tier list

Compare Pokémon within the same cost, then choose the pieces that fit your board.

Read the matchup, not just the letter. These are KantoTactics.org’s third-party simulation results from the October 17, 2026 build. Teams used eight units, controlled star levels and six completed items. Team-win percentage measures teams containing a Pokémon; it does not measure that Pokémon’s chance to win alone.

What the strongest picks have in common

Water appears across several strong options in this sample: Squirtle, Vaporeon, Poliwag, Seel, Staryu and Lapras. That makes Water a useful direction to investigate when your shop offers compatible upgrades. It does not make an unupgraded Water board stronger than every alternative.

Early picks and late carries solve different problems. One-gold Pokémon are easier to collect early; four- and five-gold picks need the economy and shop level to support them. A two-star front line can be more useful immediately than an expensive carry with no protection.

Frequently asked questions

Who is the best starter?

Squirtle has the highest team-win figure among the one-cost entries in this source. Bulbasaur and Charmander can still fit stronger boards when your shop, items and synergies support them.

Is Mewtwo the strongest Pokémon?

Mewtwo leads the source’s five-cost group. Compare it with other five-cost entries; its figure is not directly comparable with cheap early-game Pokémon.

Why are Eevee’s evolutions listed separately?

Vaporeon, Jolteon and Flareon play different roles. The ranking uses their evolved forms rather than treating Eevee as one fixed late-game unit.

Sources and version

Game rules and species come from Kanto Tactics by Einoow. Rankings refer to the KantoTactics.org cost tier list and composition study, accessed October 20, 2026. Their simulation uses the October 17 build. These figures describe that test setup; they are not player win rates or a guarantee for every team.
